Thanks for being so patient with me guys! I totally wrote like 3/4ths of this last night, and just finished it up now. I guess 3rd time’s a charm because I definitely like this one a lot more than my old version! Enjoy <3
‘Annyeong! I’m getting on the plane right now!’ you clicked the send button. A second later the phone vibrated in your pocket.
You checked your phone and the text read: Yay! We all missed you! We’ve made Sungjongie get the coffee for us the last two weeks while you were away. kekeke so he REALLY misses you.
You laughed and shook your head, ‘Poor Jongie~ his hyungs are so mean to him.’ You clicked send again, but held the phone in your hand, expecting a response.
You had been gone the last two weeks, on vacation with your family. It was a school break and your parents decided that it would be a good time for some good old family bonding. Prior to the trip, you had been living in your apartment back in korea which was located right on top of the coffee shop Infinite spent most of their time at. After becoming friends with them, you offered to pick up coffee for them since you also had a residency discount.
Throughout your two week trip, you had been constantly texting the Infinite members. It started as all seven but each conversation died except for Sungyeol’s. He kept you updated with things going on, and asked you what you were doing. You couldn’t help but look forward to each time your phone vibrated.
‘I have to turn my phone off now. I’ll see you soon!’ Right after sending it, you pressed the power button. You sat next to your parents as they fussed with each other on where to put the carry-on bags. You looked out the window and immediately your thoughts drifted to Sungyeol. You shook your head, trying to think of something—anything else. You were like… some creepy fan that was just incredibly lucky to have been able to become friends with Infinite. Crushing on one of the members would just make it more painful and delusional. Just friends. Just friends. You repeated to yourself.
A voice on the intercom broke through your thoughts, “Sorry folks, there’s going to be a delay, the captain is not feeling well and we’re currently in search of a replacement captain. One will be sent shortly. Be patient please, thank you.”
Without even thinking, you switched on your phone and texted Sungyeol telling him about the delay.
‘Oh no! Hope you’ll be okay~~ call if you’re bored.’ was the immediate response. God, when had Sungyeol gotten so, caring? What happened to choding Yeollie? There was an internal debate of whether to call him or not. You stared down at your phone, thumb lingering above the green, call button. You closed your eyes and pushed down. Your heart pounded in your chest as you placed the phone up to your ear, waiting for someone to pick up. The fourth ring was cut off, not by a friendly hello but a screech.
“YAHHH GO AWAY… LEAVE ME ALONE!!!” You could recognize Sungyeol’s voice anywhere. You heard giggling in the background from the other members and more screaming.
“NO ONE LIKES YOU GUYS. SHUT UP!” A door slammed. Well… there was that choding Yeollie you had just been thinking about.
“Er… annyeong!” Sungyeol laughed awkwardly on the other side of the line. “The other members were being stupid, so now I’m standing in the closet, in the dark, talking to you.”
You laughed and teased at him, “You really should’ve picked a better place to lock yourself in.”
“I wasn’t thinking! They were all chasing after me, trying to get my phone.” Sungyeol whined.
“Damn, am I that popular? Don’t worry, I would’ve yelled at them to give the phone back to you if they had answered instead.” You declared. Your parents looked over at you gestured for you to quiet down. You blushed and nodded, leaning closer to the window than before.
“Would you really?” Sungyeol’s voice got quieter, more serious.
“Well… Yeah I talk to you most?” You said just as quietly, getting embarrassed that your parents were overhearing this. You weren’t sure what to expect from Sungyeol at this point. There was a slight silence on the other end of the line. You still heard the other members pounding on the door and shouting at Sungyeol, but he was stayed quiet.
Suddenly, Sungyeol asked, “When do you think your flight will get here?”
“Uhh… well I’m assuming the new captain is on his way, so by the time we leave… I guess in 5 hours?” You counted the hours on your watch. As soon as the words left your mouth, a voice came on the intercom once again, announcing that the new captain had arrived. You quickly said bye to Sungyeol and hung up the phone. You spent the rest of the flight talking to your parents and going through the pictures you had taken on vacation.
“So, who were you talking to?” Your mom asked nudging you on the arm.
“No one!” You shifted away, blushing.
“Is it a boy?” She asked, grinning.
“Er… yes.” You could feel your face burning.
This time, your dad leaned over and pinched your cheeks, “Tell him if he tries anything funny, I’ll beat him up.”
“We’re just friends!” You muttered quietly. Your mother gave you a sympathetic yet disbelieving look as she patted your knee. When the plane finally landed you followed behind your parents with a heavy backpack strapped to your back. As you got out of the gate, you also tugged a suit case behind you. Struggling to keep everything together, you almost didn’t notice when your parents stopped right in front of you.
“Ah why did you guys st—” You looked up and your eyes widened. Sungyeol was standing there with a sign with your name on it. Synchronized, your parents turned, looked at you, blinked, turned, looked at him, blinked. You handed the bags to your parents and ran towards Sungyeol, not sure what to expect. As you neared him, he held open his arms and… hit you on the head with his poster.
“Do you know how hard it was for me to sneak out of the dorms?” You laughed, not sure what to say. He didn’t seem to mind as he continued talking, “Typically I don’t do this… but since your parents are here, you should introduce me to them and I will then ask them permission to date you. Then hopefully you’ll say yes when I ask… because I really really like you.” A million thoughts raced through your head as you tried to find some ground to start on. Just then your eyes focused on six guys, with their faces pressed against the window behind Sungyeol. You laughed and grabbed Sungyeol’s hand, leading him towards your parents, “I really like you too… now I’ll introduce you to my parents!”
